While the gorgeous Promenade de la Croisette wasn&#8217;t full of superstars this year, the movie market was open at least virtually, so the Filmzie crew had the opportunity to discover some new treasures for our viewers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On top of that, Cannes has published a selection of films that would get the honor of premiering at the festival. These are the ones we can&#8217;t wait to see!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wes Anderson &#8211; The French Dispatch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It takes a while to absorb how unbelievable this cast is: Timothee Chalamet, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Bob Balaban, Jeff Goldblum, Elisabeth Moss, Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Saoirse Ronan, Owen Wilson, Jeffrey Wright, Tony Revolori\u2026 A lineup assembled by Wes Anderson, the master of color palettes, all things quirky, and loyal acting ensembles eager to work with him over and over again.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems that the director of masterpieces such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, and Isle of Dogs, has outdone himself with his newest film. The story is supposed to be a love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional twentieth-century French city that brings to life a collection of stories published in &#8220;The French Dispatch Magazine&#8221;. The director was inspired by his love for The New Yorker. As he admitted himself, it&#8217;s borderline impossible to explain the plot, so we&#8217;ll have to wait for the final product!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video_fit_container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"THE FRENCH DISPATCH | Official Trailer\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TcPk2p0Zaw4?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/blog.filmzie.com\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thomas Vinterberg &#8211; Another Round<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you feel like alcohol brings out some extra creativity in people, you are clearly not alone. Thomas Vinterberg, the man behind the Oscar-nominated The Hunt, is back at it with his leading man Mads Mikkelsen. This time, he will portray a school teacher who, along with his colleagues, tests a theory: will they be more productive and happier if they maintain steady alcohol levels? It looks like they just might be right\u2026 until things get out of control. One of them was the 2016 Train to Busan: horror about a zombie apocalypse from the perspective of a couple of passengers contained within one train heading from Seoul to Busan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peninsula returns to abandoned South Korea a couple of years later. Jung-seok (Gang Dong-won) and a group of soldiers encounter another zombie attack on their mission to find resources and survivors. As he explained for <a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/movies\/ammonite-director-kate-winslet-saoirse-ronan-film\/\">Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, he set the film in the 1840s because he was fascinated by female relationships in this patriarchal society. <em>&#8220;Women were completely owned by their fathers or their husbands, and looking at how they live within that world [was fascinating], and also in a world where, at that time, the medical profession believed that women had no sexual-pleasure organs. Aya and the Witch is their first full 3D animated film, overseen by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki and directed by his son Gor\u014d. The film is an adaptation of a book by Diana Wynne Jones, and it follows an orphan girl, Earwig. She is adopted by a witch and is enchanted by her new spooky home filled with mystery and magic.
