To kick things off, we’ve got Good Grief landing on January 5th, starring Dan Levy and Luke Evans. It sounds like a real tear-jerker drama about a guy struggling with grief when his husband suddenly dies. He goes on this soul-searching trip to Paris with his friends that helps him heal. Bring extra tissues for this one!
Norwegian Dream – Release on January 9th by Uncork’d Entertainment
Now for something touching but also badass – the Norwegian flick Norwegian Dream is out January 9th. It’s about a Polish immigrant working in Norway who crushes hard on his aspiring drag queen co-worker. Cue the drama when he has to hide his feelings because he’s scared of what his other immigrant buds will think. Oof, talk about forbidden love!
The Breaking Ice Release – Released on January 12th by Strand Releasing
For a sweeping international story, check out The Breaking Ice on January 12th. A lost tourist visiting chilly Northern China bonds with this super charming tour guide chick and a dude who works at a local restaurant. Over one crazy fun weekend, these three help each other find freedom to live and love freely. This has feel-good written all over it! It is a Chinese-Singaporean production directed by Anthony Chen, and it was selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
Beautiful Wedding – Released on January 19th by Wattpad Studios
Directed by Roger Kumble and produced by Brian Pitt and David Shojai, this story takes you back into the lives of Abby and Travis, making it the sequel to Beautiful Disaster. In that movie, the couple finds themselves accidentally hitched in Vegas. The movie then takes them on a wild honeymoon down to Mexico, which you know will be anything but peaceful. More drunken disaster-y romance? Count me in!
Sometimes I Think About Dying – Release on January 26th by Oscill Scope Labatories
I Think About Dying, stars Daisy Ridley. She plays this introverted cube-mate finding joy in nothing until her chatty new work buddy keeps trying to draw her out of her shell. It’s an offbeat will-they-won’t-they tale that looks quirky yet feelsy. It leaves you guessing, and you can’t help but want them to hook up as the story goes on. It is almost like romance with a subtle hint of suspense
It Ends With Us – Coming on February 9th by Sony Pictures
Starring Blake Lively, Jenny Slate, Brandon Sklenar, Justin Baldoni, and Colleen Hoover, we have the steamy book-to-movie adaptation It Ends With Us. On February 9th, watch her character choose between her first love returning and a shiny new romance. Fans are pumped to see this conflicting passion-fest come to life!
Amélie – Coming on February 14th by Sony Pictures
An oldie but goodie returns February 14th with Amélie getting a special Valentine’s re-release. This whimsy French charmer stars Audrey Tautou as a quirky do-gooder covertly boosting the lives around her as she falls for a fellow weirdo. It’s feel-good rom at its finest!
Through My Window – Coming on February 23rd by Netflix
Last but not least, for the soap opera lovers out there, Through My Window: Looking at You drops on Netflix February 23rd. It continues the ultra-dramatic romance between on-again-off-again hotties Raquel and Ares. Will that tempestuous pair finally make it work when fate reunites them in Barcelona? Tune in to find out!
